Right to Information Act, 2005 (RTI) is an act of the Parliament of India to provide for setting out the practical regime of the right to information for the citizens of India. This law was passed by Parliament on 15 June 2005 and came into force on 12 October 2005 and replaces the Freedom of information Act, 2002. The Right to information empowers the citizens to secure access to information from any public authority in order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of the Government.
